Jacob Mozes Samuel

According to a postwar statement Jacob Mozes Samuel tried to get away to Switzerland, together with his brother Mozes Jacob, to eventually join the allied troops in England. They were caught in France. On 28 June 1942 the two brothers were deported from the French camp Beaune de la Rolande to Auschwitz.

Mozes Samuel, a cattle trader from Voorst and son of Mozes Samuel and Leentje Noach, married 10 September 1919 in Oldenzaal Stella Lievendag, a daughter of Jacob Lievendag and Bertha Elkus. The couple had four children, namely Bertha Lena, Louise, Mozes Jacob and Jacob Mozes. All have been killed in the Shoah.

Deze kiddoesjbeker van Jacob Mozes Samuel kreeg hij van zijn oma Leentje Samuel-Noach voor zijn Bar Mitswa. De beker komt uit de erfenis van de familie Samuel en is in het bezit van het Etty Hillesum Centrum te Deventer. 

Op last van het Ministerie van Justitie werd op 21 aug 1954 een overlijdensakte opgemaakt te Enschede-akte #591- voor Jacob Mozes Samuel als vermist persoon met als overlijdensdatum 1 juli 1942.

De overlijdensdatum werd vermoedelijk vastgesteld als drie dagen na zijn deportatie naar Auschwitz vanuit Frankrijk op 28 juni 1942. (zie hiervoor verhaal biografie 7 april 2016 op feze pagina.)
