Child of Baruch Tewel and his family

The Police Commissioner of Arnhem requested that Baruch Tewel and his wife Chane Tewel-Spiegel be located, detained and brought to trial. They had been living in Arnhem. They were suspected of having changed their place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.

Rudy Tewel was born in Arnhem, 1934. He was the son of Baruch Tewel and Chane Tewel-Spiegel.

He was hidden for approximately three years in different locations, most of them remained unknown. Towards the end of 1943 he arrived to Vertrouwen (“Trust”) Children’s Home in Soest, Utrecht, which was run by Dien van Woerden (Vingerhoets).
