After their marriage Willy Eichenwald and his wife lived in Remscheid, where they had two sons. On 3 October 1936 the family emigrated to the Netherlands. When the war broke out on 10 May 1940 the family lived in Tuindorp on the Regentesselaan 19 in Utrecht.
