Benjamin Mozes Cohen was married to Naatje Korper. They had twins (Koosje and Vrouwkje) and a daughter Diena. The family lived in Douwen across from the Vos garage. Their house was known as the 'Jeud'n hoes' (Jew house). The Cohens were poor. Other villagers sometimes gave Naatje hand-me-downs for her children. She would stop by the giver to show off the new acquisition. Koosje and Vroukje were mentally retarded and were committed to the Apeldoornse Bos. 'Aol Ben', as Benjamin Cohen was known, was physically weak. In the autumn he earned a bit of money peeling potatoes. His wife peddled door to door. At Passover she brought matzes and received eggs in exchange.
