After their marriage Willy Eichenwald and his wife lived in Remscheid, where they had two sons. On 3 October 1936 the family emigrated to the Netherlands. When the war broke out on 10 May 1940 the family lived in Tuindorp on the Regentesselaan 19 in Utrecht. On 21 April 1943 the family was deported to Westerbork, where they stayed until 14 September 1943 when they were deported to Auschwitz. The spouse of Willy Eichenwald was selected for work and survived the war. On the Jewish cemetery 'het Zandpad' in Utrecht a gravestone was placed. The stone can be found in grid C, row 24, place B.
