Alfred Ermann owned a chemical factory located at the Kalkturmstrasse in Wittlich, Germany. His shoepolish and polishing wax were kwown throughout Europe. Because of 'arianising'-laws, Alfred Ermann was forced to hand over his factory to two party-members in 1936. Shortly afterwards he fled with his family to the Netherlands. In 1939 he lived in Arnhem.
The family left their house at some point in 1942, they were either arrested or went into hiding. Shortly afterwards their household effects were confiscated.
Addition of a visitor of the website
The police commissioner of Arnhem requested that Alfred Ermann, a resident of Arnhem, be located, detained and brought to trial. He was suspected of having changed his place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
