Volgens de persoonskaart van Rudi Eichberg heetten zijn ouders Willy Eichberg en Ine Poppert.

In februari 1939 komt Rudi naar Nederland, samen met zijn jongere broertje. Hij komt in Beverwijk terecht, waar hij tot juli blijft. Dan verhuist hij naar een opvangtehuis in Hilversum, waar hij maar kort blijft. Diezelfde maand nog komt hij als pleegkind bij het gezin Perlstein in Heemstede te wonen. I…

Helaas blijkt het jongere broertje reeds op 06 maart 1941 te Leiden te zijn overleden.

The parents of Walter and Rudi Eichberg, Caroline and Willy Eichberg, were deported from their hometown Dortmund to Theresienstadt on 29. Juli 1942 and from there to Auschwitz on 15. Mai 1944.

A few months ago I was contacted by the Red Cross to see if I could contact family connected to Rudi Eichberg, as he has saved the grandmother of an Israeli woman, Shaked Arazi, who later wrote to me.
