Rabbi Grünthal lived at Nestorstr. 53 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf prior to emigrating to Holland in the late 1930s. He was a lecturer at the Hochschule für die Wissenschaft des Judentums (University for the Science of Judaism) in Berlin and the director of an orphanage.
