After two weeks in quarantine in a school in the Copernicusstraat in The Hague he lived in Ockenburgh, and in Huis ten Vijver. When he had to leave here he moved in with a family.

On May 14 1940, after the Netherlands surrendered to the Germans, a life boat named Zeemanshoop with 46 mostly Jewish refugees left Scheveningen. One of the passengers was a certain P Zaitschek. No one seems to have been able to find out who he was or what happened to him after their safe arrival in England.
