Gotthelf Cohen family in Frankfurt where Rosa's brother Siegmund Gotthelf and Gertrude Epstein-Gotthelf lived. This photo has Rosa Cohen-Gotthelf, Lotte Snatager Cohen, Emmy Marx- Cohen, and my mother Lore Gotthelf. Rosa and Lotte were deported to Sobibor from Amsterdam where they were murdered. Siegmund and Gertrude were deported to the Lodz ghetto where they were murdered. Lore's life was saved on a Kindertransport to England when she was 15 years old in July of 1939. Emmy survived with her husband Hugo when she emigrated to England in 1939.
The baby and woman on the far left is Friedel Muenster-Garbe(Lore Gotthelf's half sister), daughter by first marriage of Gertrude with Hugo Theodor Muenster(who died in the First World War). Friedel was married to Paul Garbe (a Christian) and their son Gunter Garbe (both in the picture). Friedel survived in Frankfurt with two children (Gunther and Rolf) and Paul was drafted into the German army, surrendered to the French and spent the war as a POW in France. After the war the Garbe family moved to New York city.
