Emanuel van der Lijn was married. He and his wife had two children. He was an accountant.
Emanuel van der Lijn was involved in the resistance. He helped Jews in hiding, including supplying them with forged identification cards. He was arrested on 28 April 1944, probably in Eindhoven. He was deported to Bergen-Belsen via the convict prison in Scheveningen and Westerbork.
