Betje Mendels was a daughter of Abraham Mendels and Mina Davidson, a family with nine children, of whom six have died in the Holocaust: Betje herself, Pietje, Emanuel, Hendrica, Levi, and Sara. The other children have died at young age.
Betje married in Amsterdam on 8 August 1906 to Emanuel Delmonte, a son of Jacob Delmonte and Mietje Mendels. Emanuel passed away on 8 November 1918 and was interred two days later in the Portuguse Jewish Cemetery Beth Haim in Ouderkerk a.d. Amstel
Betje and Emanuel had four children together: Jacob, Abraham, Mina and Salomon. Abraham however has been placed on 27 September 1910 as fosterson in the family of Betje's brothter Emanuel Mendels and Elsje Davidson who resided in Wolvega and had no children. Abraham then was two years old and he stayed the rest of his life in Wolvega, where he also was known as Abram Mendels. Betje self and her children Jacob, Salomon and Mina have been killed in the Shoah.
