Greta was bekeerd tot het katholieke geloof en werkte als lerares op de katholieke dovenschool.

Grete Spitzer was doofstom, afkomstig uit Wenen, destijds wonende op het adres Rodlergasse 25 Wien; zij kwam als vluchtelinge op 9 augustus 1939 per trein aan in Venlo en had tevoren toestemming voor (tijdelijk) verblijf in Nederland gekregen. Diezelfde dag werd zij opgenomen in het R.K. Instituut voor Doofstommen te Sint-Michielsgestel en ingeschreven in het Register van Kwekelingen van het Insti…
