Emma Levy-Mildenberg was the widow of Max Mayer Levy, who had died in Darmstadt around 1904. The couple had three children: Alice, Hedwig and one child that may have survived the war.
The family originally lived in Mainz, and moved to Darmstadt in 1901. Later the mother and her children moved to Wiesbaden before they came to the Netherlands.
