Jonas Norden was a son of Jacob van Norden. At the age of 24 he received a Diploma from the Rabbinical Comittee of Amsterdam to give religious lectures. He was a school teacher of Jewish studies. He worked also in the 'bet din' (house of judgement) as a scribe, writing divorce documents.
