Benjamin van Gelder

Anna van Gelder, born in Borne, was a daughter of Benjamin van Gelder and Antje de Leeuw. She married 19 April 1928 in Hengelo Benjamin van Gelder, a son of Mozes van Gelder and Sophia Polak.

Afther their marriage Anna and her husband Benjamin went living in Almelo, where her husband had a shop in draperies and haberdasheries. They lived at Schalderoi 12. There the  couple had three children, name…

In addition, a Jokos file (number 11531) on this family is at the Amsterdam Municipal Archive. Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 3797/16705).

Benjamin vormde samen met zijn twee broers Louis en David de Van Gelder Band. Benjamin bespeelde daarin het slagwerk. Sinds 21 augustus 1942 verbleef hij in het werkkamp Overbroek bij Kesteren.
