Sara Sluijs, the daughter of Ezechiel Sluijs and Vrouwtje Bierman, was born on 5 December 1918 in the then still independent municipality of Watergraafsmeer, as the youngest of their two children. Lion Schaap was the son of Jonas Schaap and Kaatje Jacobs. He married Jitha Krant in Hilversum in 1916. The couple had three children : Jonas, Pieter and Jozef.
