The Flatow family lived in Berlin until 1939, their address was: Berlin-Schlachtensee Niklasstrasse 5 (temporary Chamberlainstraße). Because of their Jewish origin, they were persecuted by the Nazis and forced to emigrate with her daughter Ilse. They fled to one of her best friends: Prof. Dr. George van den Bergh, Amsterdam, Van Eeghenstraat 106 and worked sometimes in the “Werkdorp Nieuwesluis, Wieringen”.
A small group of people in the protestant parish of Berlin-Schlachtensee has begun to research the names and explore the fate of those, who were persecuted by the Nazis as Jews.
As a part of this work we are planning to place a “Stolperstein” in memory of the Flatow family ( Stolpersteine Projekt ) and are now looking for descendants of their relatives and acquaintances.
We are looking for descendants of Prof. Dr. George van den Bergh. We are also looking for photos of Georg and Hedwig Flatow. So far we have none. Can you help us with that, too?
